Volunteers

VOLUNTEER

The ReWork Project is a non-profit organization and it continues to run because of volunteers! Volunteering with ReWork is not just putting in a few hours of manual labor or teaching a sewing class or helping fundraise. It’s building relationships with men and women who crave friendship, companionship, someone to listen, someone to care. No matter the task, big or small, skilled or manual, every volunteer has to have a desire to connect with people who may not smell that great or have had a shave or haircut in months.

Everything else is secondary to relationships. If we’re not loving, caring, supporting, listening then we’re missing the point of ReWork Project. Not only do we seek relationships with our homeless friends (also referred to as Reworkers), we also seek relationships with our volunteers, staff, and businesses we partner with. That same respect and care that we extend to ReWorkers is also extended to everyone around us. Instead of changing our demeanor only for ReWork, we ask Jesus to change us everyday from the inside out.

We have many areas to volunteer in! Send us an email (volunteer@reworkproject.org) and let us know which areas you’re interested in. You’ll be contacted within a few days about where you fit best and the amount of time you can give. Thanks for your interest, we look forward to having you here at Rework!

Immediate Needs

Volunteer Coordinator

Do you enjoy meeting new people, getting to know who they are and connecting them with the perfect way to serve and care for others? If so, we would love to have you join us to help recruit and coordinate volunteers. From helping with the day to day, to running events, we have several ways for volunteers to serve with ReWork and having a dedicated person to meet and help them get connected is invaluable.

The role will take approximately 5-6 hours a week, much of which can be done from anywhere, although it would be great to be at ReWork for a little while each week. You would be involved in reaching out to other groups to communicate needs and recruit new volunteers as well as connecting and organizing volunteers with various roles at ReWork.

Please send us an email if your interested in helping and we’d love to meet you.

Communication and PR

Are you on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and a bazillion other social networking sites everyday? Are you a lord of likes, radical at retweets or an usher of upvotes? How would you like to put those skills to use for the benefit of men and women living on the streets? With all the things happening at ReWork everyday, we want to tell the stories across several media platforms.

This role would take approximately 3-4 hours a week, and could be done from anywhere you have a computer and internet connection. It will involve. Communicating with ReWork staff and volunteers, gathering pictures, stories and communicating them across various media. You will also work with some of our current volunteers helping with these tasks, helping streamline these efforts.

Send us an email and help us tell these stories.

Free Food Fridays are potluck style and open to housed and homeless alike. Fridays are our version of a big family meal: a little chaotic, lots of good food, and the possibility for fun and craziness alike. Volunteers are needed to help cook food, bring drinks and sides, and most importantly, to sit down and meet new people and listen to their dreams, desires, needs, and talents

Are you skilled in one of these areas, or have a skill in another field you would like to teach others? Get in touch and let us know. We can work out to have you come teach a class or just be present to teach us what you know.

ReWork facility Volunteer

Everyday we are open, ReWork has up to 20 men and women working. That’s 20 relationships, 20 projects, 20 conversations as well as general tasks that need doing. For those available during the week, this is a great way to be involved. We’d love for you to join us during the week for any length of time, and help with the day to day. Once you’re familiar with us, we may even ask you about supervising if you’re interested.

We are also still actively fundraising and trusting God to provide where he has called. We have been blessed incredibly by Soma Austin, who covers ReWork’s rent and utilities but still need additional funds to complete the space and begin operating at full capacity. Information on how to donate funds can be found at http://www.reworkproject.org/.
